How do I know if I have an eligible GM vehicle?
Most GM vehicles model year 2015 or newer have eligible hardware. You can check with OnStar by pressing the blue button in the vehicle or give the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) to an AT&T representative to confirm eligibility.
Why is using the Connected Car Wi-Fi hotspot better than using a personal hotspot on a smartphone or tablet?
You get a better signal through the vehicle’s antenna system; you do not need to worry about charging cables or it running down your phone’s battery; and you automatically connect when the car is on without needing to set anything up each time Wi-Fi is needed.
What information do I need to activate a data plan for my vehicle?
The VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) located in the door jam or on your vehicle’s dashboard along with your choice of available data plans.
How do I activate a data plan for my vehicle if I am an existing AT&T business customer?
Existing AT&T business customers that utilize Premier can visit here for self-service provisioning or may contact their AT&T representative for assistance.
Do I need to be a current business customer of AT&T to activate my vehicle?
No, but you will need to establish a simple business agreement with AT&T to set up an account to activate data plans for your vehicle(s).
Do I need to subscribe to OnStar services in order to activate the Wi-Fi hotspot?
No, you do not need to subscribe to any OnStar paid services; but you do need to accept the OnStar terms and conditions in order for the embedded hardware to be enabled for AT&T to activate a plan.
Can I take advantage of the Wi-Fi hotspot data plans offered by OnStar?
OnStar only has the ability to activate consumer accounts or bill on a credit card. All of the benefits of being an AT&T Business customer come with the business plans. Ask an AT&T representative for what plans meet your needs.
OnStar offers a free trial for the Wi-Fi hotspot service, can I take advantage of that trial?
Yes, you can have the free trial activated on your vehicles. You can then activate your monthly data plan when the trial expires; or if you activate service before your trial expires, the plan will be future dated to begin when the trial ends.
